Welcome to Terraza La Cañada

Zona de Las, Tr.ª de las Eras, s/n, 28749 Pinilla del Valle, Madrid, Spain

General Info

If you’re heading out toward the mountains of Madrid, Terraza La Cañada is one of those spots that instantly feels worth the detour. Tucked into a peaceful corner of Pinilla del Valle, this restaurant blends a relaxed atmosphere with a menu that leans into comforting, well-executed classics.

From the moment you arrive, the outdoor seating sets the tone. It’s casual but inviting, perfect for long lunches where you don’t feel rushed. The space is also thoughtfully arranged, with a wheelchair accessible restroom and enough room for families, making it a genuinely good option if you’re dining with kids.

Now, let’s talk about the menu, because that’s where Terraza La Cañada really shines. The Cachopo is a standout-crispy on the outside, rich and satisfying inside, and easily shareable. It’s one of those dishes that feels indulgent without being overwhelming. Alongside it, the Mixta de Croquetas offers a nice variety, each bite creamy and packed with flavor, making it a great starter for the table.

Seafood lovers won’t feel left out either. The Boquerones Adobados bring a lighter, tangy contrast to the heavier dishes, adding balance to the overall dining experience. And if you’re someone who judges a place by its desserts, you’re in good hands here. The Tarta de Queso is smooth and rich, while the Flan de Queso delivers a softer, more delicate sweetness that rounds off the meal perfectly.

What makes this location stand out even more is how effortlessly it combines food and atmosphere. Whether you stop by for coffee after a walk or settle in for a full lunch, the pace feels just right. The service style is relaxed but attentive, which adds to the overall comfort of the experience.

Reviews often highlight how approachable the place feels, and that’s accurate. It’s not trying to be overly fancy-it’s a restaurant that focuses on doing simple things well. The balance between hearty dishes, a welcoming setting, and practical amenities makes it a reliable choice whether you’re visiting the area or just exploring new dining spots around Madrid.

Terraza La Cañada isn’t just about the food-it’s about enjoying a meal in a setting that feels easy, familiar, and genuinely enjoyable from start to finish.

What customers say?

“ Places like this are such a pleasure to find. The attention couldn´t be better, the food is really good and the price is very very reasonable. We had a local piece of meat, and even the olives with that came with the beer are delicious. There´s plenty of space, it´s in the middle of nature. Great place, I´d be back here anytime. Thanks for a great lunch! ”

“ One of the best things about the pueblos of the Sierra are finding gems like this restaurant. All outward appearance would suggest it is just another Spanish diner with some basic tapas and tostas, but the quality is outstanding, the atmosphere perfectly lovely, the service great. Highly recommended after a morning in the mountains. ”

“ A terrace restaurant nestled in the mountains and surrounded by lush vegetation, overlooking the Pinilla Reservoir, very close to the village of Pinilla del Valle. Ideal for lunch, afternoon drinks, and dinner. There's ample parking, but I recommend leaving your car in Pinilla del Valle and taking a pleasant 12-minute walk, which also allows you to take some lovely souvenir photos of the reservoir. If you're driving, please note that the road from Pinilla is unpaved and full of potholes. Also, please drive slowly to avoid kicking up dust and disturbing those strolling or walking to the restaurant. It's highly recommended to call well in advance to make a reservation. ”

“ I found it to be a very pleasant place with beautiful views. The food is delicious and the waiters are very friendly. They serve you quickly and, despite being quite busy, they are very attentive. I highly recommend trying the Cabrales cheese and walnut croquettes, the anchovies, and the cachopo (breaded and fried veal or pork cutlet). Although the cachopo is quite large and it's best to share it. Likewise, the desserts we tried (cheesecake, quesada, and fried milk) were also delicious. It's a place worth returning to. ”

“ Today we were back in the area and didn't hesitate to return. We tried the mixed grill, black pudding, chops, and Iberian pork shoulder. Everything was delicious; it's a charming place. A welcoming, comfortable, relaxing, and spacious spot surrounded by nature. The service was quick and friendly, and the staff were very polite and attentive. We had a fantastic meal: mixed grill, ribeye steak, and barbecue. Highly recommended if you're in the area. According to a sign, it's open from May to October. Free parking. ”

“ We arrived right at opening time, which they probably weren't too happy about, as they were just watering the plants. The place is peaceful; if you want a moment to disconnect and enjoy a beer, it's perfect. The town and surrounding area are wonderful, there's parking, and everything is spotless. I'd love to come back for a meal. ”

“ A fantastic place to eat surrounded by nature. Right next to the Pinilla reservoir. Wonderful shade and its own parking. Excellent service and friendly staff. We ordered entrecote and cachopo. Top-quality meat. And what can I say about the croquettes... Exquisite. If you're in the area, it's definitely a place to keep in mind. ”

“ We went there on a friend's recommendation. Javi and Gema treated us wonderfully, recommended dishes to order, and it couldn't have been better... great quality, excellent service, good parking, and a fantastic location. We'll definitely be back! ”
